Bemidji Curling Club
Board of Directors Meeting
September 8th, 2009
Call to Order: the meeting was called
to order at 6:12 by President Chase Jackson.
Present: Aaron Stodgell, Chase Jackson,
Eric Fenson, Evonne McKinzie, John Faulkner, Pete Fenson, Quentin
Way.
Absent: Jay Seitz, Aaron Tasa, and Doug
Underthun.
Approve Prior Minutes: Motion to approve
by Evonne, seconded by Eric Fenson, motion carried.
Presentations by Guests: There were no
members who wished to address the board.
General Manager’s Report:
- The ice-making plant is ready to be started
- The new scraper should be arriving next week
- The Lake Country Journal called Pete about doing a story about
the club
Committee Reports
Finance: Aaron distributed IRS related
documents outlining the differences between independent contractors
and employees for the purpose of making a determination of the
way the Club should handle payment for the General Manager position.
Evonne made a motion, seconded by Eric and carried by the board
to pay the General Manager (Pete Fenson) as a contractor.
Old Business:
- Ice Ads: Pete will make the contacts with
businesses for the ads.
- Kitchen: no new information. Chase to talk
to Clyde Horlick about a list items needed to stock the kitchen.
- Beer Cooler: decision on capacity of unit
pending a determination of the amount of available space and
preferred location.
- Early Ice: we have received $2500 from the
USCA.
- Junior National Seed Money: previously approved
for $1000 but may not be needed because there is already $4000
in the junior account
New Business:
- Discussion about the pop vendor agreement and whether to
continue with Coke as the sole supplier, add some Pepsi products
or a combination of the two. To be continued.
- There is a request to improve/upgrade the sound system for
the Junior Nationals. Aaron advised Terry Matson to get a quote
from Ben Stowe.
- League start-up date will be Nov 9, in order to accommodate
the community education class, which will end on Nov. 5th

Meeting adjourned at 7:52. Next meeting will be Tuesday, October
6th at 6:00 p.m
